Turkey ain’t the only thing with feathers
Harry Reasoner wrote this a long time ago, about helicopter pilots during the Viet-Nam War.
The thing is helicopters are different from airplanes An airplane by it’s nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or incompetent piloting, it will fly.
A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces and controls working in opposition to each other.
And if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying immediately and disastrously.
There is no such thing as a gliding helicopter.
That’s why being a helicopter pilot is so different from being an airplane pilot, and why in generality airplane pilots are open, clear-eyed, buoyant, extroverts. And helicopter pilots are brooders, introspective anticipators of trouble.
They know if something bad has not happened it is about to.
When ever I wonder why I am the type of person that I am and why I have certain attitudes I go back and read his statement.
I am rarely surprised when life goes to shit in a handbag, its my nature to expect something to be wrong or fucked up and I am rarely disappointed. This doesn’t mean that I see bad in everything but I like to look all the angles and see which way the turd is going to surface in life’s punch bowl.
In fact nothing makes me happier that to have planned something out, looked at all the angles I can think of and execute the plan . If all goes as expected or as I had planned for I am one happy fellow even if things screw up at least I saw that as an option. What does piss me off is if I missed something that I should have seen and planned for. This is what also piss’s me off about people, its called lack of foresight or failure to plan for failure. Life is easy when all goes well but when things turn to shit and no one has a plan for when shit happens you end up with people like Obama.

It is easier to bitch than to lead
I am guessing the Obama (The One- All honor his name) is just now figuring out that being the boss is a lot fucking tougher than throwing rocks the previous boss. Now he has to be a decision maker and be responsible for those decisions, which is scary shit for those who have never done it before. Ok, Obama supporters hit me with your best shots about how “The One “ has actually been in charge of a damn thing, the man at the top, the guy where the buck stops. You see it is easy to toss rocks when you have never actually stood in those shoes. Everyone wants to be the boss until it is time to be the boss. Here is a question, what would you do if in less than 60 days you were going to be the President of the US and you had not been the boss of a damn thing in your life. I am thinking a lot of democratic liberals are going to be very upset in about six months if they already don’t see the hand writing on the wall. Well welcome to Clinton part three with a real black man in charge who is even more clueless than Jimmy Carter.
Speaking of Jimmy Carter I see that even that crazy fucker Robert Mugabe, is not dumb enough to let Cater in his country. Too fucking bad we were stupid enough to elect Peanut Boy president, doesn’t say much for the people of the United States does it.
Then again I have said for a long time that America is getting dumber by the birth and the proof will take the oath of office in January.

Polgamy and gay marriage, same issue
I don’t have a dog in this hunt but something occurred to me the other day. If you support gay rights marriage do you also support polygamy? If you don’t why not? We are talking basically what the supporters are calling human rights and as a human polygamy have been practiced in the past. So if you support gay rights to marriage, using the human right argument then polygamy should also be legal. Now on the other hand I can not understand for the life of me why anyone would want multiple marriage partners. So if you support gay rights to marriage but not polygamy then your basically full of shit and have given the issue about a much thought as my cat thinks about shitting in the litter box. Now if you use the argument that people have a right to set limits and define how their society works within a community then we are back to a different argument. I will agree that a society has a right to place limitations on freedoms by the use of law. The question is where do you draw this line? Is it ok for the people of Australia to dictate to the people of Japan a set of laws based on the Australian concepts of right and wrong?
The people of California have voted to say that marriage is between a man and a woman, which eliminates not only gays, but multiple partners, dogs, chickens, pigs and cats. Since the constitution doesn’t address marriage it therefore must be passed to the individuals or the states. Since marriage is basically a religious institution and only adopted as a legal institution for taxes, and other such things maybe the government needs to change the reference from marriage to a legally binding contract of mutual support. Remove the world marriage and replace it with legally binding contract , civil union or some other catchy phrase and that takes care of that bullshit in all state and federal documents. I don’t think we really want to open up Pandora’s box of defining marriage in a constitutional amendment

BMW 540I and Motherfuckers
Ah yesterday was road trip day to satisfy the needs of my overlords. They allowed that I could use my own car since all the official vehicles were needed for official type work. Well anyhow, the BMW 540 is a pleasure to drive, she might be a few years old but eating up the road at an unbelievable pace is her natural environment. My deepest apologies to the middle age babe in the mustang, sorry darling your little old mustang was out muscled. The 540 has a very nasty V-8 hiding under its hood and I think it takes deep pleasure in chomping up American iron. Other than that I have finally come to the conclusion that the vast majority of Americans are idiots when it comes to driving. Its seems every time I came to a holdup in traffic or things slowed down a bit, there was some idiot with a cell phone stuck in their ear.
On other car news I am betting the big 3 get some sort of bailout, but I hope it requires a cut in pay and benefits to the UAW and its band of thieves. I am tired of hearing that GM, Ford and Chrysler put out a quality product, that’s a fucking lie. The quality is better than it use to be but in no way does it match their overseas competition. Hell even the Koreans built a better car. I can say that Ford did try a bit with the Ford 500 but GM and Chrysler are stuck in the 50’s. All I can say is fuck the unions and if you’re a union members because you want to be you’re an idiot. All the federal and state employment regulations made the Unions long ago obsolete for the original intentions. If I were king for a day, I would outlaw unions.
Now on to another to something else that kind of gripes my ass. Lets talk proposition 8 out in Califagnia. Lets throw out the gay marriage part and look at what is actually happening. The people of the state passed a change to their constitution, which is how it is suppose to be, for the good or the bad, the people have spoken. Now the courts will make a determination if it is legal. What part of this seems fucked up. Let’s go back a few more years to the part of the US Constitution that was amended to prevent the sale of alcohol, did the Supreme court jump in and say “NO”, you can’t do that . I am sure that amendment conflicted with some others but it stood until the people and not the court changed the constitution again. If the court is allowed to change the constitution and the wishes and desires of the people are ignored then we have a court that is creating law and not doing a job of law enforcement and interpretation. On the other hand it is pissing off a lot of liberals who thought that just because Obama (The One) was elected all the liberal issues would be an automatic pass. I guess allowing the people to vote on certain issues is not allowed in the liberal world and if they do vote and it doesn’t agree with certain liberal they are “Motherfuckers”. Erin is such a class act.

Just a thought
Here is a hint to all those guys and gals that bought that big ole bullet launcher for home protection. You can go to the range every fucking day until your eyeballs bleed it will be of very little help in the dark, at night half asleep scared so bad your pissing down your leg. Buy yourself a 12 gage shotgun, double barrel if you can get one. When you hear that noise or whatever, take your shot gun, smash the nearest window with the barrel and then fire one barrel out the window into the air. Unless the bandit or whatever is a pro, he or she will be long fucking gone in a skinny minute. If he or she is a pro, your fucked anyway and that is why you only fired one barrel. Now go the corner away from the window facing the door. Sit your ass down and aim mr shotgun at the door , right above the door handle. DO NO COCK THE SECOND BARREL.. Keep your fingers off the trigger. Wait until the cops show up unless you live so far out sun shine has to be pumped in. Wait until daylight then you can move. Do not play Rambo and go running around your house, you will more than likely shoot the wrong thing, a kid, a spouse, neighbor or a pet.
Now don’t get me wrong and think I am some sort of anti-gun nut, I am not. I think of guns as tools, in fact fine tools, nothing more. The fact is that I get more use out of my socket set than I will ever get out of my rifles and shotguns. I enjoy going to the range but pretending a paper target at 25 yards or 100 yards is the same as putting holes in a intruder in your house at 3 am is pure stupidity. The last thing you want is a gun battle in a house between two people who are scared shitless. The worst part of it is that the idiot coming in to your house knows even less about guns than you and I rarely see crooks at the range. Like I said, I am all for home protection and self defense but unless you’re a battle tested special opns type who is use to sending people on to the great beyond, you might want to re-think your strategy.

Me or I
Crossing the fine line between being politically correct and personally correct must be difficult for a lot of people. Any time you sacrifice one of your beliefs for a politically correct attitude you give a little bit of who you are away. There seems to be a growing movement to make the individual extinct and blend us all into a homogeneous blend of blandness. There are certain things that all people believe in and when they back off these beliefs for no other reason that to avoid a confrontation then another step towards sameness has been achieved. The question is not what you believe but how much of you are you willing to cede to another view? Some of our views or beliefs are fringe and we might change our minds on these at different times during our life. I am talking about core values, those things that make a person who they are. Those are the things we draw a line in the sand and won’t cross, because if we do we are no longer the person we once were and have chosen conformity rather than confrontation. In fact that is the only real freedom we have, we chose to be who we are and if we give that choice to someone, we no longer deserve that freedom.
