New Pussy

A few readers know that I had a collection of critters from my last marriage, animal rescue, etc, etc. All but a few have found new homes. I have two dogs left and one cat, Both dogs are getting on up in years and in fact one is crippled and the vet tells me they probably won’t make it past the next cold season. The only cat I have left is a male Persian (Merlot) who is neutered and his previous owners had him declawed. He is an inside only cat and since the departure of his buddies has been kind of growing fat and laying around with not much enthusiasm for life it seems. After much discussion with the vet and a few friends I decided he needed a buddy.  I was told by a few cat experts not to bring in another adult, that it would be better to bring in a kitten and see how he reacts. Well this weekend was used tracking down a suitable kitten and I ended up getting a kitten from a Russian couple who breed show cats.  I have no idea how you show a cat, I think having them parade around like dogs probably wouldn’t cut it in the cat world. Kitten was brought home and introductions were made, of course the one remaining inside dog got huffy and barked once and walked away looking for a treat.  Merlot surprised me, he just walked up to the kitten sniffed him a few times and promptly laid down and the kitten did his sniff thing.  Merlot seems to have accepted him and is probably wondering why I lock his new buddy up when I go to work.  Well anyway here is a picture of what the new kitten looks like.  It’s not him but they could be twins.
