Goodbye dear liberal friends its been fun

My liberal surge seems to be heading south.  I could call them all bullshit artists but that would be redundant. I have gone over and read a few of those blogs but to tell the truth separating fact from fiction is rather difficult. The only thing I got out of the whole thing was to blame Bush for everything.  I guess that’s fair and it might make them feel better than facing the truth.  The part I don’t get is the part that Bush is so stupid and yet he keeps outsmarting the democratic majority in Congress. Hoosier Boy tried a little education about how the economy works but I am sure it fell on deaf ears. I guess really reading the Constitution would also be beyond the scope of their abilities. Then again maybe they have a different version than I have.

Semi annual education rant

I attended a PTO conference at a local school the other day. No, I don’t have any kids that age but the lady I am currently dating is a teacher. One of the briefings for lack of a better term was on Title 1  school requirements and entitlements. I was kind of shocked to learn that the federal government has had its hand in the education since 1965. For those that don’t know the President at the time was LBJ and I do believe he was a democrat.  So we fast foreword 43 years and we have Title 1’s ugly cousin, No Child Left Behind.  I have linked to the official government page on Title One.  Now not to appear a heartless  bastard I have a question. We have been throwing billions of dollars at education for the past 43 years and the results, according to the politicians is abject failure. I am beginning to wonder if maybe education isn’t the thing that is broken , maybe its just an easy  political football.  Maybe the fact that this PTO meeting was for a school of over 500 students and twenty five  non teachers showed up.  The next person that complains to me be about education and they haven’t even attended a PTO meeting gets a  reply they won’t like and probably won’t be exactly PC.   My final word on this, Education isn’t broken , parents are. Parents who teach their kids respect for others, and take an interest in their kids education usually don’t have problems.  I hear all the time about how tired parents are and how they just don’t have the energy or time to do the right thing. These are the same parents bragging about getting drunk on their ass, buying a new car, going on vacation, etc. etc.  When you have children, your job is to raise those kids to be a benefit to society. All this other bullshit is just an excuse and being selfish and self centered.  The only thing you leave behind on this earth that counts for anything is your children and if your children are a walking disaster area it doesn’t say much about your days on this earth.  Money doesn’t fix problems, people do.
